Pinterest Project One

This blog is about things I found on Pinterest, loved, and had enough courage to think I could try it myself.  I will:  1. Tell you what I tried and why  2. Tell you the process  3. Tell you what I think.

1.This is the first thing I tried off my Pinterest.  I am a preschool teacher and mommy to a toddler so I find that I hardly have time or energy to cook a healthy meal at night.  I love crockpots and found these great recipes for preparing a bunch of meals at one time then just sticking them in the crockpot in the morning.  Here is where I got the recipes from: http://melissafallistestkitchen.blogspot.com/2011/09/freezer-cooking-slow-cooker-meals.html
She has all the ingredients in one big list so you can just get them all at the same time then she gives you step by step directions for chopping and seperating later etc.  and I did a Stroganoff recipe from: http://thecrockstar.blogspot.com/2009/01/absolute-best-crockpot-beef-stroganoff.html
2.So I did the shopping and preparation on a Saturday.  The preparation took about 3-4 hours.  Not bad for 10 meals or more.  Most of the meals are enough to satisfy our little family and lunch the next day.  Here is what my finished product looked like.  Two of the meals I had already put away.
3. Here is what I think of this project.  I love the idea of having the meals ready to go at the end of the day and there is nothing like coming home to a house full of the delicious smell of dinner ready to eat.  I really liked three of the recipes.  The Stroganoff (our favorite), Pot Roast, and Beef Vegetable Stew were all excellent.  The Terriyaki chicken was allright, next time I will put in less pineapple and more carrots.  I did not care for the Barbecue Chicken although  my husband liked it.  It had too many green and red peppers for my taste and the sweet potatoes turned to mush.  Also I would definitely make more of the Stroganoff because it is not enough for a lunch the next day.
After the project was all done I told my husband I felt like a hero.  There, at my fingertips, was 2 weeks worth of meals that I knew I could just pull out in the morning and therefore would not have to spend more time away from my DD in the evenings preparing meals.
Pinterest Project One DONE.  Verdict: Success!
